“Chinese Classes start june 10 at t22433 from 530pm to 830pm. Every Tuesday and Thursday. June 10, 12, 17, 19. July 1, 3, 8, 10, 15, 17. Lesson plan will be given during first lesson. Thanks"
I got to admit that I AM A BANANA!! [Not the Siti type of banana^^] I am Yellow skin-ed but white inside. Rate my Chinese on a scale of 1 to 10, I would most likely give myself a 4, giving credit for being able to speak in a somewhat understandable manner, to write in an almost-primary-school standard and to able to watch Chinese Television Drama without a dictionary.
Chinese have always been a nightmare for me and I am a regular attendant to Chinese 听写重考spelling re-tests.Anyone remembered the HSK paper?? I am proud to say that my result was only one mark below A. =X I only need another mark… [Wonder if YanLi or Clare is willing to donate a single mark?]
Chinese classes have been fun, embarrassing, but fun. Xinfei trying to read the alien-like words, answering questions, translating my English answers into Chinese to the teacher. For some reasons, I could understand what he is saying, what the passage is explaining but when asked to explain in my own Chinese words, I will have a mental block. I guess I can only go from Chinese to English and not English to Chinese.
去中国是一回事,要在那里读书上课又是另外一回事。以我现在的华文成度来看,要在那里和其他的同学一起上课是有一点问题。谁来救救我?!
It was a HUGE relief for me when I heard that MAJORITY of the assignments (which can be anything from 51% to 99%) will be given to us in English. But attending lectures and classes in Chinese.. I can’t really imagine.
It is somewhat like my greatest fear, and for some reason, I voluntarily jumped into my own nightmare.
Anyone with an ENGLISH-CHINESE DICTIONARY?? =X

Holiday? What Holiday?
How did i spend my last 3 weeks of "holiday"? I have absolutely no idea..
I think i rotted my way through. I cant even remember what i did last week. All i can remember is going for chinese classes after chinese classes. Staying at home, doing nothing and going out with Clare, Siti and Yanli for Kung Fu Panda^^ The rest of the things are in a blur.
I jus came back from my IA&F paper... 2 more papers and a presentation to go, before i offically start school again...
Right now, there is this peaceful and innocent-looking letter on my table, however i can't same the same for its content. The letter is address to me by Singapore Polytechnic and nothing ever good comes from school. Previous letters were usually exam scheldules or payment of school fees. This time, the dreadful-ness and horror is twice as much.
All because of a single, 5-letter word "NAPFA".
It have been 2 Years and 3 months since i last excersied, that was in first 3 months JJC. The exercise i get thereafter are things like walking up the stairs and running after buses. Not much of an excersie, is it?
Since blogs are suppose to be a place of confessions and thoughts, i have to admit something and that is I can NEVER do sit-ups. Yup.. i said it.For some reason, Sit-ups isn't my thing. I usually just cheat using my elbow or to use my maths, add a bit of here, add a bit of there. =X Jus thinking for doing sit-ups give me the shivers.
About today's IA&F, it's a good thing that i started studying only yesterday. I completed e paper in half an hours time (1 hour paper). ^^ Pretty Confident about the paper. But i dont think i can say the same thing for tomorrow's Com&Ben and Wed's Employment Law...

For Better or Worse
“Really?! Are you sure?! 你行吗?”
That is what most of my friends tell me when I told them that I signed up for this China Immersion programme. They must have thought that it was my belated April Fool’s joke or something. But guess what, I really did sign up for the programme and I am REALLY going to CHINA.
Why did I sign up?I guess one of the reasons might be to see the world. I
have never been to China and China is not a place that I am usually associated with. I have strangers and unknown lecturers asking if I was from Vietnam, Cambodia, even Malaysia but it was never China. [Something weird is that people started asking me if I was a Vietnamese only after my 11days-cultural exchange programme in Vietnam. I remember one guy who was on the same trip asking me if I was “local”.]Unlike Clare’s Letter of acceptance, the results of interview were a simple sms sent to us by the lecturer. That sms changed the lives of 5 people [Yeah Hooi, Yeong Whee, Jun Sheng, Li Ying and ME !! In ascending order according to age.. hahaha]
And thus, I have taken my first step.
For better or worse, nothing would ever be the same again.

Prelude
Prelude
In preparation of my little journey to China, I have created this blog in the virtual world to keep track of the things to come...PreludeIt has been a long time since i typed a story, less to say one about myself. Those whom have seen my pre-extinct-friendster-account and my never-online-msn would know that having to keep this blog "alive" would be a challenge for me. But i decided to go ahead and test myself in the mystical world of blogging.
"Surviving China 101" (a extremely over-used and cliche tittle) will be my commitment to myself. 101 things, tips, happenings and fun stuff(not to mention buys) before, during and after my 132 days in china...If "Surviving China 101" is a success, I MIGHT consider carrying on my legacy in the blogging world.
